IN MEMORY OF THE DEAD

IN MEMORY OF THE DEAD
ink and watercolor on paper
11.75" x 16.5"
2008

It has been several days since the tsunami hit northeast Japan and killed thousands of people - a horrifying testament to the power of nature. I would, every now and then, see videos on the struggles and hurt the tsunami's survivors have to endure. The images I see are the most profound expressions of human pain and loss.

I found this old drawing from two years back and thought I would put it hear In Memory of the Dead and The Victims of the Japanese Tragedy. I give respect to those who have perished and share in the grief of those who were left behind with the task of rebuilding their lives out of what has been lost.

all prayers to the victims of the tsunami.
as a side comment, i am amazed at how disciplined and dignified the Japanese are during the course of the whole tragedy.
